Meet the Redneck Who Thinks He Can Fix U.S.-Iran Relations

"Forget the 14-point memo. This is the only memorandum Iran needs."

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — As diplomats in Geneva and Vienna haggle over a potential 14-point memorandum of understanding to halt fighting between the United States and Iran, one voice is cutting through the noise from an unexpected corner: the humid backwaters of Louisiana. Chet Massy, a 48-year-old crawfish boil enthusiast, former offshore rig worker, and self-proclaimed “geopolitical redneck,” has emerged as an unlikely commentator on the crisis.

Massy first gained internet fame last year after a viral video in which he declared his elevated deer stand a sovereign nation and threatened to “invade Mexico with airboats” over rising shrimp prices. With more than 2.3 million TikTok followers who call themselves “Massy’s Militia,” the Louisiana native now commands an audience that ranges from Gulf Coast oil workers to disaffected veterans.

In an exclusive interview conducted beside a bubbling pot of mudbugs, Massy offered what he calls the only realistic plan to end the war Washington initiated with its defensive strikes on southern Iran.

“Boy, them ayatollahs been pokin’ the bear since Jimmy Carter days,” Massy said, spitting Red Man tobacco juice into an empty PBR can. “We got Marco Rubio sayin’ a deal could take ‘a few days.’

Few days my ass. This needs the Chet Plan.”

Fix U.S.-Iran Relations: Current State of Talks

According to Reuters reporting, following an early April ceasefire the U.S. and Iran remain deadlocked on core issues: Tehran’s nuclear program, Israel’s ongoing conflict with Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, the lifting of U.S. sanctions, release of frozen Iranian assets, and control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials say progress has been made on a framework memorandum that would end hostilities in exchange for safe passage through Hormuz. A senior U.S. official told Reuters that Iran has agreed “in principle” to open the strait and dispose of highly enriched uranium. Iranian sources, however, emphasize the initial deal focuses narrowly on ending the war, a 30-day shipping framework, and limited financial relief, with tougher issues like nuclear limits and ballistic missiles to be tackled in a subsequent 60-day window.

Any memorandum would still require approval from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and ultimately Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.Massy was unimpressed with the diplomatic timeline.

The “Chet Plan”: Hormuz, Nukes, and Pig Blood

On the critical Strait of Hormuz chokepoint — through which roughly 20% of global oil passes — Massy’s solution is direct. “Blow it wider,” he said, gesturing with a crawfish claw. “Not with real nukes — though I’m writin’ my congressman about that option — but drop enough MOABs to make the Persian Gulf look like the Atchafalaya Basin after a hurricane. Then we send my boys from the rig down there on airboats. One .50 cal and a cooler full of beer per boat. Problem solved. No more ‘safe transit negotiations.’”

Massy dismissed the complex nuclear discussions, where Iran has so far offered no commitments on its enrichment activities in the draft framework. The U.S. wants a lengthy moratorium, dilution or export of highly enriched uranium stockpiles, and limits on advanced centrifuges.“Forget diluting uranium to 5% in some friendly country,” Massy scoffed. “We fly over and dump pig blood in every enrichment plant they got. They scared of pigs, right? Watch them centrifuges spin down faster than a liberal seein’ a Trump flag. Highly enriched stuff? Gift wrap it and overnight to Jerusalem with a bow that says ‘Don’t Start Nothin’, Won’t Be Nothin’.’”

Lebanon, Sanctions, and “New Texasistan” The framework also aims to end fighting on all fronts, including Lebanon. Massy had stronger views.

“Hezbollah? Call ‘em Hezbol-Losers. Send in the Marines but issue ‘em lifted monster trucks instead of Humvees. Flatten south Lebanon flatter than roadkill on I-10. Then build a Whataburger right where Nasrallah used to hide.”

On sanctions relief and frozen assets — which Iran desperately needs after years of economic pain that contributed to January unrest — Massy was blunt.

“That’s American money now. We release them frozen billions? Hell no. Buy every hardworking taxpayer a new F-150 King Ranch and lifetime Tabasco. Reparations?

They owe us for every high gas price since 1979, my uncle’s VA claim, and the fact I can’t get decent gumbo in the Middle East.”

Massy further proposed doubling the U.S. naval blockade, withdrawing American forces only to reinsert them disguised as “oil consultants with more guns than the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” and constructing “a big beautiful wall around the whole country — taller than Trump’s, with gators in the moat and cottonmouth snakes on top.”

As for ballistic missiles — a longstanding U.S. demand that Iran has refused to discuss — Massy suggested a simple enforcement mechanism.

“Tell ‘em their rockets better not fly past the next sand dune or we’re carpet-bombing with bacon-wrapped JDAMs. Their ‘right to conventional weapons’?

My right to a full tank of diesel and cold beer comes first.”

Final Phase: Conversion and Victory

Massy said the sequencing of any deal — ending the war first, then addressing nuclear and security issues over 60 days — was “for pussies and Europeans.”

“Day One: Bomb the right stuff. Day Two: Declare victory bigger than V-J Day. Day Three: Missionaries with AR-15s and King James Bibles. If the Supreme Leader complains, fly his ass to Louisiana. We’ll feed him boudin, beer, and boudin balls till he either converts or begs to go back to running a theocracy.”

When asked about the Iranian foreign ministry’s claim that many topics in the 14-point memo had been settled, Massy laughed.“They settled on losing. We just ain’t told ‘em yet.”

Massy’s followers have already begun flooding social media with #ChetPlan hashtags, some selling T-shirts featuring a crawfish wearing a MAGA hat stomping on an Iranian flag.

While mainstream foreign policy experts are unlikely to embrace Massy’s approach, his brand of unfiltered commentary resonates with a segment of the American public exhausted by decades of inconclusive Middle East engagements. As one supporter commented online: “Finally somebody talkin’ sense instead of 60 more days of meetings.”

Whether diplomats heed the wisdom from the bayou remains to be seen. For now, Chet Massy is firing up another pot of crawfish and waiting for the phone call from Mar-a-Lago.
